iocaine cracks me up.
Watched The Hills. Um, is Heidi the stupidest person on the planet or what? Seriously. If there was a contest, I think she'd have a good shot at winning. Holy lord. Also -- why was she letting them sit in the VIP section? And then sitting down herself after the boss specifically said not to? Did the producers tell her to get in trouble on purpose or something? Seriously, WTF. Especially since she so obviously only got that internship in the first place because of the show. CRAZY. That said, I am so totally watching next week.
A submission of mine made it to Overheard in NY today.
Good Keira Knightley fug today. Is that or is that not Orlando Bloom? *squints*
You know, I am so very glad to have reconnected with
researchgrrrl, and posts like this are one of the reasons why. Need to build your own explosives to hunt down supernatural entities? She can hook you up, yo.
This is nice: From Reuters: Two recently departed NBC programs, White House drama "The West Wing" and gay-themed comedy "Will & Grace," picked up bids for the TCA's Heritage Award, which recognizes long-running programs of lasting cultural or social impact. And then my head exploded. "M*A*S*H" veteran Alan Alda also drew a nod for his role as the Republican senator who loses the hard-fought race for president on the final season of "The West Wing."
....and They've slashed Homeland Security grants for New York. While raising the grants for Georgia. Um, okay. Thanks, guys. You're doing a heck of a job!

Date: 2006-06-01 03:12 am (UTC)Mostly, I was sitting here going, "OHMYGOD, I hope Dia watched, because there needs to be venting."

Date: 2006-06-01 03:43 am (UTC)and Heidi was so obviously thinking, 'why the hell not?' in her stupid little brain.
Yes! You could actually SEE the brain cells trying to work. OMG. Why is Lauren friends with her??? And that Audrina chick seems like a piece of work, too.

Date: 2006-06-01 03:31 am (UTC)OMG, I KNOW. Even letting them in the party was incredibly stupid, plus it put the other intern at risk. Oh Lauren; I love you, but you are the worst intern ever.
I am already so addicted to this show. SO MUCH LOVE.

Date: 2006-06-01 05:14 am (UTC)Awesome fug. Wow. I hope Keira can return from that dark place.
And speaking of dark, have you seen this (http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/6961761.html)?

Date: 2006-06-01 11:20 am (UTC)I disagree with this comment* as I think any place with a large core of people (and Atlanta counts) is at risk to terrorism (since the point is cause, you know, terror), but that doesn't change that D.C. and New York are clearly the two most at risk. Hey, here's a thought! Let's NOT keep cutting taxes and use the money for something useful! Let me kick in that $100 and something they want me to have right now.
*I originally something ruder here but revised. :)
**Love the unhappy Josh face mood icon.

Date: 2006-06-02 10:27 am (UTC)And yeah, Georgia got a 40% increase, but 40% of what? I would venture a guess that the budgets for NYC and DC are still vastly greater than Georgia's.

Date: 2006-06-02 10:55 am (UTC)I just released in making this comment that I forgot about the 1993 WTC attack. My apologies if I sounded flippant, which wasn't my intent. I only wanted to say that GA has also been a victim of terrorism.

Date: 2006-06-02 02:34 pm (UTC)I haven't read the reports (and if you could provide a link so I could I would be grateful) but I imagine that every single target wouldn't be listed. Perhaps not to give anyone any ideas? I also think that looking at the per capita numbers probably gives a skewed view of the situation. The money isn't being used to protect people on an individual basis, but rather being used to protect groups of people and targets. I don't see how looking at the per capita numbers gives a realistic picture.

Date: 2006-06-02 02:55 pm (UTC)Per capita is an issue because on a daily basis we have more people using our subways than even exist in most cities in America. Which makes a disaster here a hundred times more difficult to manage and combat than a disaster anywhere else.
I have no problem with other cities getting money. It's taking money away from NYC that I don't get. This isn't an argument you can win with me, I'm sorry. I saw the towers fall with my own eyes out my office window. I was there, and I remember.
