I Love New York: I just....I just don't even know what to say about this show. Oh, THIS SHOW. With a frickin' midget, y'all. And a guy named "It" who earns his name every time he opens his mouth. And Tailor Made calling the florist and saying, "Hi, my name is Tailor Made..." *dies* I get down on my knees and thank the television gods for this cracktastic trainwreck of an hour, I really do. All my other worries just melt away.

And The Hills was pretty juicy, no? Does anyone not believe that it was Spencer, Brody, and Heidi all together? Come on. For some fun, watch Heidi really badly lip-synching one of her songs at a party, while Spencer acts like the tool he is in the background.

Chuck was cute tonight but I don't have much to say about it, other than Sara is kind of a bad spy.

It's shameful to admit it, but in a way this guy is my new hero.

Although Paul Krugman is my real hero.

Article about cats in Baghdad. Poor kitties. Most depressing part of the article? They can't get the cats spayed or neutered because all the veterinarians have fled the country.

Last Friday was my annual volunteer day at the Humane Society, where I have my yearly moral argument with myself over volunteering more often. Unfortunately with all the crap I have going on right now I can't even think about it, so I'll cover my guilt with a check. But I guess I'm really just using this opportunity to plead with you all to consider shelter animals when getting a new pet. They're grateful and loving and have tons of personality, and they need good homes. You wouldn't believe how many animals get dropped off at the shelter just because they're old. There was an adorable poodle and an adorable Pomeranian, both of whom had been left by their owners because they were around 10 years old. The owners wanted to euthanize them, even though they didn't have any real health problems. Unbelievable. And they were the greatest dogs, so friendly and happy and energetic. Anyway. That's my little soapbox about that.

Has anyone ever gotten a medical second opinion on something? I just...don't even know how to go about it. Just find a random new doctor? In this town that's going to mean quite a waiting period. I am confused and bashful.

And many thanks to my mysterious virtual gift benefactor!

I really think it was all Spencer! I think that Brody was aware, as were all of Spencer's friends, but they probably kind of laughed it off and were like, "Dude, you so bad!" I have no doubt that Brody talked some shit about Lauren with Spencer and that Heidi overheard it, hence her assumption about Brody starting the rumors. But the whole thing just reeks of Spencer, particularly since he's still beating the "tape still exists!" drum to this day and no one else is. (Even though the tape probably exists.)

Totally with you on I Love New York! Please let her never find a boyfriend so that this can go on forever and ever and EVER.

And did you SEE? About Chance, in the previews? Eeeeee! drama! The only thing that could make that better is if Flav comes back, too.

I think you're probably right that Spencer was the one who physically did it, but I definitely think Heidi and Brody knew all about it from the very beginning. I just think there's no way Brody is actually an innocent in this, I read that Details interview with him and Spencer. ;P

My favorite part of ILNY may have been when she said that kissing Midget Mac would be like "kissing a toddler" and then very seriously said, "These are the issues I have to deal with." Yeah, no kidding.

And I am so excited about Chance that it is pathetic.

I'm nto entirely sure of the situation, but if your GP refered you to the first speciallist, I think you can just go back to him/her and get another referral somewhere else?

It's my gyno, who wasn't referred to me by anyone. There is another gyno at the practice, but would that be weird to go to him?

I don't know about weird, but I personally wouldn't be too eager to get my second opium from him; would he be willing to contradict his collegue's decision, if the evidence warrented it?

They more share office space than anything else (it's a multi-disciplinary practice and they are the GYNs on alternating days), so I don't think that in particular would be much of an issue.

Do you have a GP as well? When I needed a referral for something, that's what I did - called my GP, explained the situation, and then asked him for a referral. That way you avoid the whole, other-doctor-at-the-same-practice awkwardness.

I asked him for a referral back when I was looking for a GYN and the people he recced to me weren't taking new patients unless it was for infertility. :P Finding a GYN in this town is a nightmare.

Seeing the other doctor at the practice wouldn't be too awkward as they're in the office on alternating days. I actually spoke to my GYN today and he recommended that's who I see, since my records are already in the office and they don't really practice "together," they just share office space. Hmm.

I may be completely off the mark, but can you call a random doctor and say that you want to be seen for a second opinion--NOT that you are a new patient? I did that once (for more of a consult than a second opinion, long story) and got in fairly quickly.

It's worth a try, unless your insurance dictates you have to get a referral. Might not hurt to call a couple GYNs and find out their policy.

Also: why doesn't Gore just run? Sigh.

Talk to your OBGYN and tell him/her that you would be more comfortable with a second opinion and that you would like a referral. For something majorish, they should offer that automatically. I know my eye guy was all "Dude, you should TOTALLY ask for a second opinion and here's a referral."

Play up the "I'm freaked out by this and need reassurance" angle.

If the first doctor is any good, he/she should be able to give you a list of names of others doctors for a second opinion.

I cannot believe that I forgot to record I Love New York! Luckily, VH1 will be shoving it in our faces all week long and I can get the context of your subject line.

Sorry about your medical woes. I haven't been commenting on it, but I have been hoping the best for you.

And thank you. :)

Dropping off a pet at a shelter just because it's old...I'm not usually in favor of the death penalty, but I'd happily pull the trigger on anyone who did that. I'd gut-shoot them, too, so they'd die slowly and painfully.

Yeah, it's amazing what some people do. There was one dog who was dropped off there because the family said they were "moving to Europe," then once they examined the dog they discovered she had cancer. The family just didn't want to deal with her illness. Of course, the clinic did all the necessary surgeries and she's now missing an eye, but otherwise happy and loved at the shelter.

When I was working for the Humane Society in DC I heard a lot of stories like that. All of us there adopted what pets we could, but there were so many more that we couldn't get. It was heartbreaking, really.

I just want you to know that even though my dogs are snooty pure breeds, my cat came from the shelter.

I don't think it should be a problem to get a second opinion. Call your GP for a referral.

Puppies! YAY!
(Shaddup. They are all puppies, no matter how old!)

You are a very good person for volunteering and donating to the shelters.

I have decided Chuck is Scarecrow and Mrs. King with a gender reversal and updated for new enemies.

Oh, good call. No wonder I'm liking Chuck so much.

You are so right about Chuck/Scarecrow & Mrs. King! I can't believe I didn't think of that. You rule.

And again, apologies for making you cry. :(

And that doctor sounds interesting, but I suspect he's impossible to get in to see and not something I could afford anyway. Oh, health care. Why must you suck so much? Sigh.

My love for the Hills grows every week. mmmm...... Anyway.... I was hoping for Heidi to get a bit more of a slapdown at work, but whatever. Brody.... you know I always thought he was shady but I've really warmed to him in the last few episodes. I hope he wasn't involved. But Spencer TOTALLY was.

I hope Brody wasn't involved since he's still friends with Lauren, but considering some of the shit I've seen him say in the press I would honestly be surprised if he wasn't at least aware of it and didn't do anything to stop it. I'm so glad I don't live in Hollywood.

What Paul Krugman says about Gore couldn't be more true. Personally, I love it when Al is right about one more thing. It makes all the people who have been so nasty about him look like the bullies they are.

I didn't realize that all his targets were women, eeek. And I don't REALLY think he's a hero -- it's just the tiny animalistic id in my brain that pumps a fist, before I smack it back down again. *g*
