I saw a frog on the sidewalk on the way home tonight. It was dusk heading into night and so at first I thought it was a giant cockroach, which was a much more likely scenario. But no, it was a small frog. There was a weird moment were my brain was literally trying to process what I was seeing, because it was so foreign to me. It's like I'm living in the frickin' country out here! ;)

Anyway, had a lovely dinner al fresco with [livejournal.com profile] girlunravelled, and a delicious drink called a Swimming Pool. It was very blue. See?

Yay for warm weather!

Then I came home and watched the American Idol finale, which was just as cracktacular as I'd hoped it would be.

At first I was just crazy amused that Adam was wearing those spider web wings or shoulder pads or whatever they were, and then KISS came out and it all made sense. LOLOL. Hilarious. Also, Gene Simmons, you're a little old to still be doing the tongue thing every ten seconds, aren't you? Come on.

Loved Simon and Randy's reactions to Bikini Girl's new boobs. The Kara sing off was ridiculous, but Bikini Girl seemed vaguely humiliated, so I was appreciative of that.

Danny Gokey and Lionel Richie = me laughing for days. Kind of scary how much more presence Lionel had then Gokey, eh?

David Cook is still hot. And humble and charming.

Nick Mitchell is still MY American Idol.

Allison and Cyndi Lauper singing "Time After Time," oh, my heart. I love that song and I thought their collaboration was beautiful. I want them to upload that song.

Fergie made me laugh because the AI stage should be giving little Stacy Ferguson some flashbacks.

I will never ever get tired of Seacrest acting like every music star is his close personal friend.

Simon was very gracious to both guys. That was nice.

Queen Latifah, I love you and think you are gorgeous, but that catsuit was not your friend.

And then Steve Martin was there. LOLWUT.

As for the coronation -- well, my emotional investment ended when Allison did, so I genuinely didn't care who won. Right before Seacrest announced the winner, I thought, "I think Adam is going to get it, but it actually would not surprise me if Kris did instead." And then he did. I admit to not fully getting the appeal of either of these guys, and Kris seems like a pretty underwhelming winner to me. But then, he'd hardly be the first. It was pretty hilarious how shell-shocked he was, and how he thought Adam should win. I suspect Adam agrees with you, Kris. I'm guessing all the grannies who were voting for "that nice Gokey boy" transferred their votes to sweet safe Kris instead. But hey, his vocal style is better for the crappy first single, and I'm sure both guys will have the opportunities for success. Whether it shakes out for either of them, we shall see. Sweetest moment of the night was when Kris hugged his wife and finally let his true emotions show. Awwww. Congratulations, humble pie.

And then Seacrest said they would be back in January (Bye Seacrest! I will miss you!) and it hit me that AI will be back before Chuck. That is so wrong.

You know what else is so wrong? Kirk Acevedo has been fired from Fringe. That is CRAP. I love Charlie! Dammit.

You know what is not wrong? This picspam comparing Blair and Chuck to Scarlett and Rhett. It is in fact pretty awesome.

When I fired up iTunes a little while ago the Glee version of "Don't Stop Believin'" was the #1 song. Hopefully that is a good sign for the show. Also, iTunes has the premiere for free if anyone missed it or wants to see it again.

For any old-time All My Children viewers: they killed off Stuart Chandler this week. No really. This is what happens when you take a guy who was in charge of General Hospital and put him in charge of AMC. Sigh.

Eighty degrees tomorrow. Can't wait.

1) What, pray tell, is in a Swimming Pool?

2) Having only seen the final 4 minutes of Glee, I can tell I'm going to LOVE it.

3) Holy shit. They killed Stuart Chandler???

I feel like there should be a montage of Stuart's many awesome argyle sweaters set to "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan.

If I remember correctly, it was Bacardi Coco rum, pineapple juice, vodka, and blue curacao. Almost like a pina colada, but with more bite.

Don't even get me started on Stuart. SO WRONG. Whoever killed him was gunning for Adam instead.

I saw that last Friday, but like the eighteen people pointing guns in the darkened Casa Chandler that day, I thought it was Adam. Man, the one day Stuart doesn't wear an argyle sweater...!

Man, the one day Stuart doesn't wear an argyle sweater...!

LOLOL. Yeah, there was some explanation for why Stuart was dressed like Adam (I think), but since I've been fast forwarding through almost all of it because I just can't deal with the stupidity, I cannot tell you what that explanation was.

What I really don't understand is why they brought back/recast Stuart's son Scott....only to kill off Stuart a few weeks later. The hell?

That drink looks amazing. I love blue drinks. I got to sit outside and have a cocktail today too - basil infused vodka with blood orange juice. Killer. Summer drinking outside is the bomb.

the Glee version of "Don't Stop Believin'" was the #1 song.

YAY.

I can't believe they fired Kirk Avecedo, Charlie was awesome -- only thing I can think is they've decied to use Peter more in that back up kind of role for Olivia? Otherwise I don't get the decision at all, and though I wouldn't mind more JJ screen time, I love Charlie so not too happy about that -- not that I'll be ever watching Fringe live since Fox decided to put it against Supernatural.

Yeah I can't belive AMC killed Stuart, I've seen a lot of little OMG they are GHing this in the Guza way, ACK WHY WHY on AMC lately.

I loved both Adam and Kris, I think winning Idol will work better for Kris despite the horrid song.

Ooh I have a total kink for frozen blue drinks. Jealous.

Norman Gentle was the highlight of an absolutely cracktastic evening of television right there.

Poor Charlie!

I'm so disgusted with AMC. Stuart was sometimes an annoying character but he did a great jog humanizing Adam and David Canary did a wonderful job in those scenes with himself. The show has been ruined for the last few years but this is one of their worst moves ever.

Take Care

I saw an interview with Canary where he said that pretty much every Emmy he won was due to Stuart material he submitted. So sad.

I still don't get Adam, and have never enjoyed his performances (other than the duet with Allison), so I'm pretty content that Kris won. Ya think AI was banking on an Adam win, though, carting out Queen to sing "We Are the Champions" with them near the end? Hee.

I always wondered where they were going with Fringe dude, if they were going to make him evil or hook him up with Olivia or what. I guess they weren't going anywhere. Huh.

That GG/GWtW picspam rules.

Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie was in a show here called KIDS Incorporated, about a band of kids who performed at the local diner. So she has a lot of experience singing in such a cheesy venue. :D

Here's a classic:

LOL! My reaction exactly. Srsly, WTF?

As you know, I have MAD LOVE for Adam, but I also knew Kris was going to win, because America just isn't ready to be THAT GAY. I adore how completely over the top he is, and this entire season would have SUCKED without him.

I haven't watched AMC in years and yet I was home, hung over, yesterday so was therefore watching daytime TV and caught that part. How? Why? I mean, I know they were gunning for Adam but . . . . Stuart?

WRONG!

That swimming pool looks mighty inviting.

YES. I should have mentioned this as well in my email to you last night. They killed Stuart Chandler. REALLY. The current showrunner is Charles Pratt, which should explain much.

Also, Jamie Luner is now playing Liza Colby. It's a crazy world.
