I saw a frog on the sidewalk on the way home tonight. It was dusk heading into night and so at first I thought it was a giant cockroach, which was a much more likely scenario. But no, it was a small frog. There was a weird moment were my brain was literally trying to process what I was seeing, because it was so foreign to me. It's like I'm living in the frickin' country out here! ;)

Anyway, had a lovely dinner al fresco with [livejournal.com profile] girlunravelled, and a delicious drink called a Swimming Pool. It was very blue. See?

Yay for warm weather!

Then I came home and watched the American Idol finale, which was just as cracktacular as I'd hoped it would be.

At first I was just crazy amused that Adam was wearing those spider web wings or shoulder pads or whatever they were, and then KISS came out and it all made sense. LOLOL. Hilarious. Also, Gene Simmons, you're a little old to still be doing the tongue thing every ten seconds, aren't you? Come on.

Loved Simon and Randy's reactions to Bikini Girl's new boobs. The Kara sing off was ridiculous, but Bikini Girl seemed vaguely humiliated, so I was appreciative of that.

Danny Gokey and Lionel Richie = me laughing for days. Kind of scary how much more presence Lionel had then Gokey, eh?

David Cook is still hot. And humble and charming.

Nick Mitchell is still MY American Idol.

Allison and Cyndi Lauper singing "Time After Time," oh, my heart. I love that song and I thought their collaboration was beautiful. I want them to upload that song.

Fergie made me laugh because the AI stage should be giving little Stacy Ferguson some flashbacks.

I will never ever get tired of Seacrest acting like every music star is his close personal friend.

Simon was very gracious to both guys. That was nice.

Queen Latifah, I love you and think you are gorgeous, but that catsuit was not your friend.

And then Steve Martin was there. LOLWUT.

As for the coronation -- well, my emotional investment ended when Allison did, so I genuinely didn't care who won. Right before Seacrest announced the winner, I thought, "I think Adam is going to get it, but it actually would not surprise me if Kris did instead." And then he did. I admit to not fully getting the appeal of either of these guys, and Kris seems like a pretty underwhelming winner to me. But then, he'd hardly be the first. It was pretty hilarious how shell-shocked he was, and how he thought Adam should win. I suspect Adam agrees with you, Kris. I'm guessing all the grannies who were voting for "that nice Gokey boy" transferred their votes to sweet safe Kris instead. But hey, his vocal style is better for the crappy first single, and I'm sure both guys will have the opportunities for success. Whether it shakes out for either of them, we shall see. Sweetest moment of the night was when Kris hugged his wife and finally let his true emotions show. Awwww. Congratulations, humble pie.

And then Seacrest said they would be back in January (Bye Seacrest! I will miss you!) and it hit me that AI will be back before Chuck. That is so wrong.

You know what else is so wrong? Kirk Acevedo has been fired from Fringe. That is CRAP. I love Charlie! Dammit.

You know what is not wrong? This picspam comparing Blair and Chuck to Scarlett and Rhett. It is in fact pretty awesome.

When I fired up iTunes a little while ago the Glee version of "Don't Stop Believin'" was the #1 song. Hopefully that is a good sign for the show. Also, iTunes has the premiere for free if anyone missed it or wants to see it again.

For any old-time All My Children viewers: they killed off Stuart Chandler this week. No really. This is what happens when you take a guy who was in charge of General Hospital and put him in charge of AMC. Sigh.

Eighty degrees tomorrow. Can't wait.
